Grow Your Oakland started as a project of queridomundo, the studio of graphic designer Querido Galdo. He lives in the Fruitvale with his very private wife and many other inspiring creatures. He’s happy to get all of this info out of his head and into your hands, and his biggest wish today is that you appreciate a pigeon and eat some greens from your yard for dinner. Grow Your Oakland is developing into a collaboration involving queridomundo's ever-evolving and much-loved communities. This site was inspired by these communities and the real participation we've found and created here, and we want to dig into what makes that possible. There is so much history and beauty and complexity here, so much to explore both through this site and in our daily lives. We want to keep the thread of Oakland's natural history, geography and environment running as we develop, because that's a big part of what sustains us, what gives us the strength to grow here. We—Querido and his Oakland familia— would love to grow the site to reflect diverse interpretations of this fantastically unique city, to express the visions of those who live and thrive here.
